This is more than a clever slogan but a brief statement reminding us of some definite distinctions of what we want to be and what we want to do at Grace Community Church, for the glory of God.
First, Grace Community Church is Reformed Minded in the sense that we believe in emphasizing the essential elements rediscovered by the great Reformers, i.e., Luther and Calvin. We stress the Five Sola statements of theology
The New Testament church and the early Reformers believed that God spoke primarily through His preached Word, as the people of God assembled in a common family to hear their Lord. This they saw as the primary means the Spirit used to educate and motivate the saints to live God-centered lives and win the lost for the Kingdom. Grace Community Church is dedicated to gathering together often to hear the sequential verse-by-verse preaching of the Old and New Testament, by men prepared to carefully exegete the original Hebrew or Greek text, interpret that by the careful grammatical-historical rules of interpretation and explain the text with the goal of changing lives for the glory of God.
Unfortunately not all Reformed minded fellowships seek to pursue lost men and women to share the Gospel. We believe the Biblical mandate to make disciples is given to all believers and so we seek to be evangelistically driven as a local church. We are driven by this mandate…
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.
- cf. Matt. 28:19-20
